Dream Cereal - by Nick Z & Kai Althoff - 2011. Comprised of 49 drawings, this book was conceived as a continuation of the artistic collaboration between Kai Althoff and artist Nick Z, which was first established in their 2007 joint exhibition at Gladstone Gallery, “We Are Better Friends For It.”Entitled, Dream Cereal, this book further explores the underlying themes of their exhibition and collaboration, borrowing from moments of history, religious iconography, and counter-cultural movements to create evocative contexts that are propped upon narratives simultaneously arcane yet familiar, at once deeply personal yet universal. Each work was made together by Althoff and Nick Z.
Nick Zaremba’s mixed media artwork was featured in the Exhibition Catalogue for Takashi Murakami’s Superflat Collection: From Shohaku and Rosanjin to Anselm Kiefer. This exhibition took place at the Yokohama Museum of Art in Yokohama, Japan, and highlighted a diverse range of artists selected by Murakami from his personal collection.
Published in 2016 by Kaikai Kiki Co., the catalogue includes essays by Eriko Osaka, Akiko Miki, Tomoh Kashiwagi, and Isao Kumakura, as well as interviews with David Walsh and Ichirō Hirose. The bilingual edition (Japanese/English) documents the groundbreaking exhibition and features Nick Z’s work among a global roster of artists.
